Abstract

The increasing adoption of hybrid workplace practices has transformed the way organisations manage employee well-being, making it essential to understand the organisational factors that support positive psychological outcomes. This study examines the relationship between hybrid workplace practices and employees' psychological well-being, with workplace social support proposed as a mediating variable. The study was conducted among employees of an insurance company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A quantitative research design was employed using a structured questionnaire administered through Microsoft Forms. Data were analysed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27 and SmartPLS version 4 to examine both the direct and mediating relationships among the study variables. The findings indicate that hybrid workplace practices have a significant positive effect on workplace social support and employees' psychological well-being. Workplace social support also exerts a significant positive influence on psychological well-being and partially mediates the relationship between hybrid workplace practices and employees' psychological well-being. These findings suggest that supportive workplace relationships enhance the positive effects of hybrid working arrangements on employees' psychological well-being. This study contributes to the growing literature on hybrid work by demonstrating the importance of workplace social support as a mechanism through which hybrid workplace practices influence employee well-being. The findings also provide practical insights for organisations seeking to develop hybrid work policies that promote both employee well-being and organisational sustainability.
